...so we built it ourselves. The Village didn’t just happen—it was built by a group of women who saw a need, believed in something better, and stepped in to make it happen.
We’re moms, leaders, planners, problem-solvers, and (most importantly) people who care deeply about the families in this community.
Each member of our board brings something different to the table, but we all share the same goal: creating an Upstate South Carolina homeschool co-op where families feel supported, students feel known, and community comes naturally.
While we each have titles and responsibilities, what really matters is how we work together—and how we show up for you. Behind the scenes, we are:
Planning classes and coordinating schedules
Organizing events and field trips
Supporting families and answering questions
Solving problems (sometimes on the fly)
Constantly working to make The Village better
And yes… occasionally managing chaos with coffee, group texts, and a lot of determination.
Every decision we make comes from experience. We understand the challenges that come with homeschooling, and the reasons we chose to do it anyway.
Our team is also tapped in to the local homeschool community of Anderson SC and surrounding areas, so we're always finding new opportunities for our students to learn and grow.
If you've been burned by another local South Carolina homeschool co-op, unfortunately, we get that too. That's why we're here.
We know that choosing a homeschool co-op is a big decision. That’s why we’re committed to creating an environment that is:
Safe
Welcoming
Organized (mostly 😉)
Focused on what truly matters
At The Village, your family isn’t just another number—you’re part of something we’ve built with intention.
Take a moment to meet each member of our board below. You’ll quickly see that while we all bring different strengths, personalities, and (occasionally questionable planning styles)… we’re united in one thing: We love this community—and we’re so glad you’re here.
Rebekah Paxton — Founder & Grand Poobah The vision, the engine, and the glue. Rebekah founded The Village because she believed homeschool families deserved something better — and then built it from the ground up.
Sarah Allen — Second in Command & Treasurer Where Rebekah casts the vision, Sarah makes sure the wheels stay on. She keeps the books balanced, the budget honest, and — when necessary — has the hard conversations so the community stays the kind place everyone came here for.
Erin Hill — Marketing, Enrollment & Curriculum Coordinator The reason you probably found us. Erin handles social media, enrollment, and curriculum design — all while maintaining a steady supply of sarcasm and coffee.
Felicia Owens — Fundraising & Community Care Coordinator Felicia is the heartbeat of The Village's community culture. She plans and runs every fundraiser, coordinates outreach efforts, and makes sure that when a family welcomes a new baby, faces an illness, or hits a hard season — someone shows up. Meal trains, birthday cards, and everything in between — that's Felicia.
Tiffany McElhannon — Community Resources & Service Tiffany makes sure no family in The Village ever feels alone or without options. She helps shape curriculum, manages our community service projects, and connects families with resources when life gets hard.
Maggie Pintoff — Events Coordinator & Chief Executor of Emily's Ideas Where Emily dreams it, Maggie builds it. She takes the vision, figures out the logistics, makes the lists, and gets it done — reliably, cheerfully, and without letting a single detail slip through the cracks. The Village's events look effortless because of Maggie. They are not effortless. Ask Maggie
Emily Moton — Events Visionary Emily is the one who says "what if we did this" — and somehow it's always a great idea. She dreams up the experiences that make The Village feel special, from holiday parties to field trips to the moments families talk about for years.
