The Village Big Kid Buddy Program is a unique mentorship and volunteer opportunity designed to support families while helping older students step into leadership roles.

Serving families in Greenville, Anderson, and surrounding Upstate communities, this program is built on a simple idea:

Sometimes moms just need an extra set of hands.

How the Program Started and How it Works

Like many good ideas, this one came from real life.

During an event, it became clear how challenging it can be for moms with multiple young children—especially without older siblings nearby to step in when needed.

Sometimes all it takes is:

A few minutes to help another child
Time to grab food
A moment to handle something quickly

And that’s where the idea was born:

What if older students could step in to help?

What Is a Big Kid Buddy?

Big Kid Buddies are older students who volunteer to help younger children and families during co-op events and activities.

This might include:

Holding a baby for a few minutes
Helping younger kids during crafts or activities
Stepping in when a parent needs quick support
Keeping an eye on little ones during busy moments

It’s simple. Practical. And incredibly helpful.
