The Village Homeschool Co-Op Partnering with Friends of the Community to Serve the Upstate Community

At The Village, we believe community matters—and we’re proud to partner with organizations that are actively making a difference.

One of our key partnerships is with Friends of the Community Upstate, a local nonprofit serving families in Pelzer and surrounding areas. Together, we are working to give our students meaningful opportunities to serve, connect, and make a real impact.

About Friends of the Community Upstate

Friends of the Community Upstate is a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focused on supporting families in need through acts of service, food assistance, and community outreach.

Their mission centers on bringing people together to serve others with compassion, care, and practical support—often through initiatives like food distribution and community-based programs.

Their guiding idea is simple:

Full hearts. Full plates.

How Our Students Serve

Through this partnership, students at The Village have ongoing opportunities to participate in hands-on community service, including:

Helping prepare meals for local families
Supporting food-related outreach efforts
Participating in service projects that meet real needs
Volunteering alongside other members of the community

These are not one-time events—this is ongoing, consistent service that allows students to truly be part of something bigger.
