You want the best possibly education for your child. That’s probably why you homeschool in the first place! At The Village, our academic program is designed to support homeschool families across Greenville, Anderson, and surrounding Upstate communities with structured, engaging homeschool co-op classes for every stage.
We combine experienced instruction, flexible curriculum, and a community-focused approach to help students grow academically and confidently.
Our team includes trained and former teachers as well as veteran homeschool moms who are passionate about education and committed to meeting students where they are.
We use a blend of custom and proven curriculum to adapt lessons to different learning styles and our students' needs. Our team works hard to provide individualized attention to help each student reach their full potential.
We believe homeschool education should be both thorough and engaging—not one-size-fits-all.
The Village offers comprehensive homeschool academic programs, including:
English / Reading / Writing
Social Studies
Science
STEM
Electives and enrichment classes
For families who want additional structure, many of our classes include assigned work and optional homework, allowing the co-op to support your core academic needs. Our goal is to provide a near turnkey solution for those families who desire it!
Note: Math is not currently offered for grades below high school.
We understand how critical reading is to a student’s success. That’s why we offer access to a trained reading interventionist, providing additional support and practice for students who need help building strong literacy skills.
All grade levels participate in PE and/or gym, helping students stay active and engaged.
We are grateful to partner with the Pelzer Gym in Pelzer, which generously provides facilities for our students. High School students in need of a physical education credit will be given health curriculum work to do on non-co-op days.
Academics are just one part of the equation that makes a homeschool co-op great. We offer a range of homeschool enrichment opportunities for SC students. These include:
Clubs for a variety of interests
Electives
STEM-focused activities
Hands-on learning experiences
We actively listen to families and students. If there’s a class you’d like to see offered, we encourage you to bring it to us.
If it can’t be implemented as a class, we often build it into a club or elective, allowing student interests and passions to shape what we offer.
At The Village, our homeschool co-op classes and academics are designed to support—not replace—your homeschool. We work alongside parents to provide:
Structure where needed
Flexibility where it matters
A voice in what and how students are learning
Because the best homeschool programs are built with families, not just for them.
What subjects do you offer, and do they count toward our homeschool requirements?
We offer classes in English, Reading, and Writing; Science; Social Studies; STEM; Physical Education; Math; and various enrichment courses. In South Carolina, homeschool parents are responsible for covering the core required subjects — our classes are designed to support and supplement that instruction. You remain the educator of record and decide how our classes fit into your overall curriculum and records. Classes vary from year to year depending on student need and teacher participation.
Do parents have to stay on-site during classes?
Parent participation requirements vary by age group and program. Our younger grades generally require parent presence, while high schoolers in the High School Drop-Off Program can be dropped off for one or more classes. Check the specific program page for your child's grade level for details, or contact us with questions.
Will students have homework or assignments outside of co-op days?
This depends on the class and the teacher. Some classes may include reading, practice work, or light projects to reinforce what was covered in person. Our goal is to complement your home education — not pile on extra burden. Expectations are communicated clearly so families can plan accordingly. For core classes, many times optional at-home work will be offered for those who wish to use our programs as their core curriculum.
How is placement handled — do you go by age or skill level?
We organize students primarily by grade level, but homeschool families know better than most that kids often work above or below grade level in different subjects. We encourage you to reach out and talk through your student's specific situation so we can help find the right fit. Flexibility is built into the homeschool spirit, and we try to reflect that.
How many days per week would my child attend?
The Village holds classes on Mondays and Thursdays. You may attend one or both class days depending on your needs. Additional field trips, events, and meetups are also incorporated into the academic year for those who wish to attend.
